Dear CSBA community,

I’m sure you will all be pleased that the NSW government is easing some restrictions relating to the Coronavirus.

Basketball NSW are currently working with state government officials to get a plan approved that will eventually allow us to re commence some basketball activity. Although this is imminent, we do not yet have approval to conduct nor endorse any organised basketball activity on any level.

We understand everyone’s desire to return to play the game we all love, however we need to ensure this is managed in a coordinated and safe manner to give us the best chance of avoiding a second wave and another shutdown.

The Australian government are encouraging all citizens to download the Covidsafe app and have encouraged sporting bodies to promote the use of the app to help us provide a safer service to the community (see link below).

We really appreciate your patience and hope to give you more information soon.

Dear CSBA members,
As you probably know by now Basketball Australia recommended that Basketball Associations pause all activity as of 7am Saturday 14th March due to concerns with the Coronavirus (COVID – 19) This advice along with the understandable concern by a large number of our members led us to pause all basketball activity, effective immediately.

This pause in activity includes:
• All junior and senior Representative and local competitions
• Training and development programs for local competitions and Representative basketball.
• Aussie Hoops
• Academy
• Comets Stadium will also be closed to the public
• Everything basketball

For now can everyone please limit queries to CSBA staff and board to urgent matters only. Operational decisions will be communicated in a timely manner.

This decision was not taken lightly and was made in the best interests of everyone’s safety. As this situation is evolving so rapidly this pause in activity will give us time to consider our position moving forward. We hope to return to playing basketball soon but will only do so when we know it’s in everyone’s best interests.

Think of other people. We are all in it. We can all make a difference as to how things play out.

Yours in Basketball
Ben Osborne
